Taiwan’s base metals exports continued decline

According to Taiwan Customs import and export statistics data released that Taiwan exported a total amount of US$23.93 billion in August, down 14.8% year on year. Among them, Taiwan’s base metals and other steel products exports decline of 15.5% year on year.

Due to weak global demand and global financial downturn, Taiwan’s exports performance declined of 8.8% year on year in first eight months of this year; Korea’s exports performance also declined of 6.1% year on year. 

During January-July, Singapore’s exports performance declined of 13% year on year, Japan’s exports down 8.2%, Hong Kong’s exports down 5.4%, China’s exports down slightly 0.2%, respectively.
